STORY

After climbing the 300 steps to the top of Golden Mount, also known as Wat Saket, and back down again, I stumbled jello-legged across Boripat Road to a small shop for a much-needed coffee. I walked back outside, looked down, and saw the most beautiful sidewalk I’ve ever seen. It was this repeating tile grid of squares and echoing quarter circles in a rich, worn terracotta that created these larger interlocking soft-edged squares. It was a perfect design and not surprisingly, I immediately saw a quilt in it.

The classic Chore Coat first appeared in late 19th century France as a favorite overcoat for blue collar workers - it’s actually where that term came from as the traditionally dyed blue coat was referred to as “bleu de travail”, or blue work. The coat hopped the pond soon after, where was dubbed the “chore coat” and popularized by Carhartt. Still worn today around the world and recently popularized for it’s functionality, versatility, and wearability, the chore coat is a favorite for men and women alike.
